Check the specifications for the 3466 carefully before you choose. For
example, you can only have a maximum of 6 3590E drives if you attach a 3494
library. The DASD is also within the RS/6000. You are also constrained with
the software: ADSM/TSM, AIX, microcode, 3494 Library Manager code (if you
have 3494 option) all come packaged as a single EC. If you just want a black
box in the corner and are happy for IBM to look after it as regards hardware
and software, then fine. But if you want more flexibility then consider
doing it yourself.
