Look at online TSM doc for a new function...db compress...(you have to be TSM
3.7...)
unloaddb
loaddb
dsmserv unloaddb devclass=3590cart scratch=yes
dsmserv loaddb devclass=3590cart volumenames=000042
database has to be down...
This can take a VERY long time...hours....
strongly suggest you try in a test env. if you have one...

My ADSM database is growing at a fairly alarming rate, the database is almost 17
gig now and I would like very much to shrink or compress it... I had several
RS6000s that (thanks to SQL Backtrack) got up to around 1 TB before they were
caught. I have expired the tapes and audited the library but the DB is still
huge... Please help a Newbie out and tell me how to shrink the DB.
