The 3rd copy command mentioned below should be:

copy
f:\adsm.sys\registry\<machine>\Users\<user>\S-1-5-21-1044802943-1509306182-911163043-500

 f:\winnt\profiles\<user>\
& rename the file to Ntuser.dat then reboot.

Subject: NT User profile after Bare Metal restore

Anyone has NT run bare metal restore with TSM 3.7.1.06 client. I performed
the following, but profile of locally logged on lost.
Thank you in advance.

With Administrator User account logged on to run Increment backup with NT
client 3.7.1.0.6.
After backup, under c:\adsm.sys\registry\<machine>\user\Administrator\,
there is only a file S-1-5-21-1044802943-1509306182-911163043-500
but no Administrator000 nor Administrator000.key file

According to Redbook "Windows NT backup & Recovery with ADSM" (page 81),
these files should be there after incremental backup and are related to the
use logged on when backup is running. And they are for user profile
recovery purpose.

Tried "backup reg entire" & "backup reg curuser", still not get those files
Run ADSM scheduler as service to incremental backup c:\ with a userA logon,
also no files UserA000 or UserA000.key

Before restore to original C: disk, a test on restore from C: to F is
preformed
"dsmc restore c:\* f:\" run OK, the 3 copy commands below are run. reboot
from boot.ini on diskette, NT can be booted up with F: drive
However, user profile (of the user logged on during backup) is not
recovered. As a result, profile setting of that user becomes default, that
is all those wallpaper ... etc lost.

copy f:\adsm.sys\registry\<machine>\machine\*.* f:\winnt\system32\config
copy f:\adsm.sys\registry\<machine>\users\default f:\winnt\system32\config
copy f:\adsm.sys\registry\<machine>\user\Administrator\*.*
f:\winnt\system32\config

The 3rd copy command (may be obsoleted) is from another Redbook "ADSM
Client Disaster Recovery: Bare Metal Restore" Page166.
