Doesn't the 3570 have an autoclean function? Ours does.
Using the front panel controls, we just put a cleaning cartridge in the library,
turn on autoclean, and stop worrying about it until the library says it's time
to replace the cleaning cartridge.
The library handles its cleanings and ADSM never gets involved.
About once per month we see an event in the AIX error report that says one of
the drives cleaned itself.

Tape a look at the define drive command. You can specify the
cleaning frequency on a per drive basis there.
