Jack,

Is there 10 or 30 gig of free disk space in your disk storage pool?

Check the "Maximum Size Threshold" for your disk storagepool.
Use the "QUERY STGPOOL F=D" TSM server command to show this value.
To change look at the "MAXSIZE" parameter on UPDATE STGPOOL command.
If this is set below 10 or 30 gig, the backups may go directly to tape.

If you have lots of free disk to allocate for your Exchange storage pool,
set MAXSIZE to "No Limit", then it should go to disk first.

Thanks,

Del

Subject: Full Exchange Agent Backups go directly to tape

We recently started using the MS exchange agent and noticed that whenever a
full
agent backup is done it goes directly to tape instead of disk. The agent
incrementals do not have this problem. The sizes of the Exchange databases
range from 10 gig to 30 gig and there is a separate storage pool created
for our
exchange backups. I realize there is a limit to what can be sent to disk
but I
am hoping there is a way to send the data to disk first. Is this possible?
