Re: HSM disaster!

Hi Henk,
I did some testing one month ago because we thought of using HSM under AIX. We
discovered two major problems and one of them was restoring a filesystem where
migrated data was larger than the filesystem. It seemed that the
restoremigstate=yes option did not work, if you backup the files before
migrating them. The only workaround was to do a partial restore, migrate the
restored files, do the next partial resore and so on.
If you can't start hsm because of a corrupt filesystem you can remove the
fs-entry of that fs in the HSM configuration using the "dsmmigfs
export"-command. It is a good idea to do a dsmmigfs query before to display the
current settings of the filesystem in the case you want to reimport the
definition of the corrupt HSM-filesystem. Information of the export/import
commands can be found in the README.OLD file of the adsm client (this was
verified under AIX, I hope it works also under IRIX).
Good luck ...
Othmar
