12 x 3590 drives

I have 4 production ADSM servers sharing this library, each server allocated
3 x 3590 drives.  However due to the twin-tail cabling each server can
physically see 6 x 3590 drives.

Has anyone any experience of the "3494SHARED YES" server option?  I
understand I can use this so that my *SM servers can share the other 3590
drives that they can see.

Does this just work for *SM servers physically located on separate server
hardware?  I have a requirement to build a test *SM server on one of the
existing production servers.  I would like this test server to be able to
use the same drives as the production server.  I wonder whether this sharing
feature will work with multiple *SM instances on the same hardware?  Since I
don't understand the logic behind the sharing it's difficult to understand
whether it will work or not.
