Hello,

we have a space problem with our ADSM Server (v3.1.2.50 under AIX 4.3.2). There
are two IBM 3995-C68 optical libraries with four drives each. The older library
has still 2.6 GB drives and media. The new one already has the 5.2 gb drives and
media. The 5.2 gig C68 holds the primary storage pool while the smaller C68
contains the copy storage pool. As more and more clients are added to the ADSM
server we can see the moment where the copy storage pool won't fit any longer
into the smaller Optical Library.

Our plan now is to upgrade the old 3995-C68 to the 5.2 GB drives to double its
capacity. But first we would like to know if ADSM can handle the 2.6 AND the 5.2
media together in one library so we could move the data in turn and replace the
old platters? What I mean is: Will the new media be used as 5.2 gig platters or
just 2.6 gig, or would it first be necessary to move the copy storage pool to
another location, replace the drives and the media and then get the copy storage
pool back?

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
Met vriendelijke groeten,
With best regards,
Bien amicalement,

CU/2,
                Dirk Billerbeck
