*SM doesn't work this way.  The key word in your example was "probably".
You might be able to get the file back by going back far enough.  With *SM
you know exactly how far you can go back.

*SM is very deterministic while most other tools are probabilistic.  This
has always been a differentiator between IBM and other vendors.
