Gerrit - That observation made me remember way back to earlier postings about
a client defect when operating on /usr, and a look at the APAR
database suggests that you're suffering from a manifestation of the client
doing a compare on the leading "/u" portion of the file system name in
expecting automount file systems. See APAR NUMBER: IX85830.
It talks of the same client level you are using...so I'd leave that
level behind.
