I was having the same problem on one of my Novell servers. I looked on the
Novell web site and a search on "slow backups" returned TID #2937318.
Section E, which describes directories with a large number (over 10,000)
files, was revelent to my situation. I made the recomended changes and the
backup speed has increased dramaticly.
