Sorry Guys I might have confused matters by mentioning UNIX. We do not run any
TSM Servers on UNIX . I only mentioned UNIX because the doco seems to indicate
that it is the only client that can support tape for Backupsets (and that being
8 mm)

As a test I have written a Backupset to a DLT400 tape drive. The TSM Client and
Server for the test both lived on the same physical box (an NT Server). Now the
problem is that the TSM client cannot use the tape drive for a backupset
restore. It appears as though the backupset media must be able to be mapped to
in NT Explorer. IE The client (I guess) does not contain all the drivers etc
that the Server does. Therefore the backupset must reside on floppy , zip drive
, Jaz , CD-ROM or DVD all of which fall well short of our expectations for
backupsets.

Now that I have mentioned NT - our main client base is infact Netware and it
also appears as though the backupset must reside on a device which can be
mounted as a volume and the file treated as a filespec. I do not believe that a
tape volume can be mounted online to the Netware filesystem. So my original
question holds can you you tape for a backupset restore on Netware?.
