TSM 3.7.1 on NT client errors

I've recently upgraded one NT workstation to test the TSM 3.7.1 client code.
Everything's been running well until I started noticing these messages
appearing in the DSMERROR.LOG every night:

The backup appears to run to completion despite this severe looking error.
Restores are not a problem either --- everything's there as expected. The
failures are appearing on file structures that ARE EXCLUDED in the DSM.OPT
file, so I'm not quite certain why the process is still trying to back them
up, or why it's reporting this error.

Any ideas out there?
