Hello,

We have an ADSM server (3.1.1.0) running on an NT server, attached to a STK
9714 library. The library initially had 80 volumes (DLT 7000).

Today, I wanted to add 20 additional new cartridges, but I seem to have
problems with the labeling of the cartridges. If I am not mistaking, I
first have to do a LABEL LIBVOL, and afterwards a CHECKIN LIBVOL.

However, no matter which syntax I try, I always get I/O errors on the drive
during the initialization of a cartridge; I tried this on multiple
cartridges, but they all failed. The library has two DLT 7000 drives
attached to it, and I get the errors (during the initialization) on both
drives. The error occurs when specifying a specific volser, but also when
using the LABELSOURCE=BARCODE.

One difference between the new catridges, and the ones which are already in
use in the library, is that the old ones are QUANTUM DLT IV cartridges, and
the new ones are BASF DLT IV ; but I don't think this should make much
difference...

The drives work fine for other processes (migration, reclamation,...).

This is the output :

Any idea of what can be wrong? Am I using the wrong syntax for the LABEL
command?

Don't hesitate to email me directly....
