We have seen this situation on both 3.1.2.20 and 3.1.2.40 MVS servers.  The
client is NT 3.1.07.

I've seen this behavior when doing selects on the backup table.  On this
particular server we're running 3.1.2.16, and I have no real explanation.
Possibly it's a leftover from when we were running pre- 3.1.2.13 code....?
I haven't really persued it since it hasn't caused any noticable grief at
that site.... What server code are you running at?
