Sure, I do it all the time.  The easiest way is to add the following to the
development box's dsm.sys file:
nodename  {production node name}

You will need to use the production servers password when you connect.

REMEMBER!!  Change this back before any backups are taken on the development
box.  If it still looks like the production box when a backup is started it will
screw up what is being held!
