it might be interesting to figure out if your suggestion copying the files
as binaries will work.

As far as these volumes are only files with a special format for pages
within this should work.

But I'm not quite sure, cause I've never tested this.

I think if you delete the volumes first to use the mirrors then move the
files, reformat the drive, move
the files back and then recreate the volumes (which will cause
sync-processes) it's quite sure;
if this won't work you only have to create files of the same size and
format them as -db / -log, then
you can recreate them as db/log-volumes and the syncronisation process will
copy the mirror to
those files.
