Jeff,

Check your settings for txnbytelimit (in the client's dsm.opt file) and
txngroupmax (query option on the server, to change edit the dsmserv.opt).

If you are not network bandwidth limited (i.e less than 10mbit ethernet)
then try setting both of these options to their maximum  values.

TXNBYTELIMIT 25600
TXNGROUPMAX 256

Txnbytelimit dictates the size of the transaction in kbytes (25.6M) and
txngroupmax dictates the total number of files per transaction.  The size of
the transaction will be which ever of these is reached first.  If these
values are set too low, and you have lots of small files, your performance
may suffer due to increased number of database operations and network
activity.
