We had the same pb with our STK9740 w/ DLT7x drives under AIX. with ADSM
3.1.2.30+

Check the latest microcode for both library and drives.

For drives, under AIX if look to the device config I can see the
microcode level.

root % lscfg -vl /dev/rmt0

DEVICE LOCATION DESCRIPTION

rmt0 00-03-01-0,0 Other SCSI Tape Drive

Manufacturer................QUANTUM
Machine Type and Model......DLT7000
Serial Number...............
Device Specific.(Z3)........7155  ==> 0x55 is 85d : level v85 for drives.
Check for v90 or v95.

For the library, contact your STK technician and ask for the latest
microcode.

Hello all!

 After updating ADSM 3.1.2.1 to 3.1.2.40 we have had=20
 several I/0 -errors with DLT IV-tapes. This will change tapes to =
readonly
or unavailable access.  Now we have almost 5 per cent unavailable tapes =
from
all of our tapes.=20

 Our configuration:
 Sun UE5000 + A5000 + Solaris 2.6 + STK9740 library with=20
 10 x DLT7K tapedrives.=20

 Have anyone had same problems? Do you know what are the right =
microcode
levels to those tapedrives? How can we correct the problem?
