I'm running Oracle 8I, V8.1.5 and ADSM API V3.1.0.7 on AIX V4.3.2.  I've
relinked Oracle with libobk.a in $ORACLE_HOME/lib and the link appeared to
work.

When I try to allocate a channel, I get the following:

RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-03007: retryable error occurred during execution of command: allocate
RMAN-07004: unhandled exception during command execution on channel adsm1
RMAN-10035: exception raised in RPC: ORA-19554: error allocating device,
device
type: SBT_TAPE, device name:
ORA-19557: device error, device type: SBT_TAPE, device name:
ORA-27023: skgfqsbi: media manager protocol error
RMAN-10031: ORA-19624 occurred during call to
DBMS_BACKUP_RESTORE.DEVICEALLOCATE

The Oracle bin/sbtttape test returns a 1 instead of a 0, indicating that the
tape management link is bad. Oracle support believes it should work at this
point.

I'm convinced that I have some problem with the link operation or the
version, but I haven't been able to dig anything similar out of the ADSM
archives.

Does anyone else have this configuration working, or any advice on how to
proceed?

Thanks,
