What I understand of ADSM, during a backup, it does do a check to see if any
objects are changed or deleted...

Just going through all those files can that quite a bit of time... ADSM does
go through ALL the server files and matches them against the ADSM
Database...

Many thing may affect performance;

        - Your LAN speed
        - ADSM on NT...(It is not the better choice platform... like AIX...)
        - Your Novel Hardware and configuration (Disk, Memory other services
etc)

ADSM may not be your problem... maybe look at more performance driven
hardware... (like 100M-Ethernet, switch instead of Hubs...)

You have a lot of files on one server... sometimes it's better split up
users on different servers... for recovery, for performance... (all your
eggs in one basket? What do you do in case of a server failure???)
