Rupp--I use Sterling's VMTape, so I don't have to do a close when the server
is finished with the tape. As far as I know, there is no exit point that
will be called at that point. What I do, tho, is depend on Programmable
Operator (PROP) to trap things like that that I want to act on. The console
for my server, DSMSERV, is sciffed to another machine running PROP and
filtering, but logging, all of the information messages that I usually don't
want to see. In your case, the system operator would have to be the id
acting on the "DETACH" message but that's all right. In my case, I have the
VMTape console sciffed to the OPERATOR id, so I see a VMTape mount command .
I could trap on it and store whatever info I would need when the detach
would be seen.

PROP, even as simple as it is, is a great tool for something like this.
Sterling's VMOperator would be even better as would a product from IBM, the
name of which I have forgotten.
