It's also worth pointing out that ADSM/Tivoli Storage Manager makes a
distinction between "backup" and "archive" that often does not apply to
other data protection practices.

Backups are intended to let you restore the state of the machine at
some relatively recent time.  They are intended to protect against
inadvertent data loss, whether due to "ohno" moments, hardware failure,
or Hurricane Flood, er, Floyd.

Archives are intended to preserve a snapshot of particular files at
a particular time, and to retain those files for a specified period.
They are intended to save data for legal, accounting, or other business
reasons.

When you go to define the requirements, it helps to talk about these
distinctions.
