I have just returned from the ADSM Symposium at Oxford University, and I
I have just returned from the ADSM Symposium at Oxford University, and I
would be remiss if I did not take this opportunity to praise the excellent
job that Sheelagh Treweek did in hosting this meeting.   I hope the 150 other
attendees from Europe, Africa, and North America will agree that this was an
excellent experience well worth our time and expenses.  I have been attending
conferences for twenty years, most of them run professionally, and this
conference was every bit the equal of conferences such as GUIDE and SHARE.
The facilities were excellent, the program was superb, and the interaction
between the attendees was very strong. All of these were made by possible
only because Sheelagh, with the assistance of her husband Roger, and a few
others from the Oxford University Computing Services (all volunteers) put in
many hours and paid attention to all of the details to insure that the
program came off without a hitch, and did it ever.  Whoever volunteers to
manage the conference for the year 2000 will indeed have big shoes to fill.

Congratulations, Sheelagh, on a job well done, and many thanks from me
personally for taking the time from your own life to do it.
