The more files you have, the more database usage you will get. The limit is
your database. On the Admin Guide, there is a "magic number" for file data
occupancy on the ADSM database, I think it is 400 bytes. Multiply the total
and the number of versions and you will have a full size for your database.
Add a little more space for users, policy and configurations.
I have seen on the list that ADSM database doesn4t work fine over 40 GB. Has
anyone come to a conclusion about it ?
Would it help if you packaged some files on archive ?
best regards,
Rodrigo

Subject: How many files can i archive ?
Date: Wed, 29 Sep 1999 11:41:22 +0200
I've this problem, one of my user has the need of archive about 5
million of small file (about 25 - 30K each) with all the directory
trees, so my question is:
Can ADSM manage a so large number of files ??
I have no problem for space, but i wonder if so many files can crash the
Database or something else.
Last thing we cannot zip the file.
Thanx to all.
