The reclamation of copypool tapes is inherently slower than other
operations. Think about what's going on. A copy pool tape reclamation will
get data from primary pool tapes. The copypool volume being reclaimed
actually stays offsite. So there is probably a lot of file skipping going
on as tapes are read. This will account for your apparently slow
throughput. Not every file on a primary pool tape will be moved to a new
copy pool tape during reclmation. Only those files that exist on copy pool
tapes being reclaimed.

I said tapes. I think what ADSM is doing is deciding which copy storage
pool volumes meet the reclamation threshold and it works on all of those
volumes simultaneously. This is different from a primary tape pool
reclamation. Smart though, when you think about it.
