Pat,
We never licensed ADSM under HESC, as we didn't feel we could meet the
letter of the HESC agreement. How does one do research or instruction with
a backup product? You can support that function, but HESC states that the
product be used FOR research or instruction. We also did not want to
categorize each use of ADSM by whether it qualifed under HESC or not (to
meet the 80% rule). IBM was very unhelpful to us in helping us get past
this, and we eventually decided it was not worth using HESC.

So, we instead used Passport Advantage, which is a nice program in concept
but we found it difficult to learn how to use (get quotes, etc). We were
eventually put in touch with a helpful person from IBM (now Tivoli) who was
able to help us put our order together. We now use Passport Advantage to
order other products as well. One thing we found useful was to get an
authorized IBM reseller (we use Indelible Blue) who is competent to deal
with Passport Advantage.
