I'll add more information about configs, etc., here.

We tested this db restore on two different systems.  Both with seven
processors and 2 GB of memory.  No RAID in either, just big mongo volumes.
Total db size was 28.8 GB, but only about 20% utilized so ~6GB to restore.
Tape technology was 3494 with 3590 drives (not E drives).  The first couple
of minutes, we moved 15,000 db pages per minute, but that dropped off
quickly to 2000 pages per minute.

There is something fishy about this.  Can someone share with us the length
of time to do a similar db restore on an AIX system?  We've done a couple of
4 GB restores on NT from DLT.  45 minutes was about the longest it has
taken.  We're fixing to be in a real bind on this.
