I would suggest to first move all data away from this volume (if you can,
if not mark it destroyed and recover it) and give it back to "scratch".
Then analyse this tape first and if it is ok you can reuse it.
A little question in exchange, how is your performance on the 9840?

Thanks for the reply. One more question.
After ADSM set a volume to READONLY, should it resume writing on it later
if I update the volume back to READWRITE?

One other reason could be the status of the TAPE , it HAS to be in
READ/WRITE write modus. If ADSM encounters an READ or WRITE Error he sets
these tapes to READONLY. The tapes are further on only used for READ
processes like RECLAMATION input, or MOVE-Data input, or restores.
