I do full DB backups daily. I don't do incremental DB backups. It seems
that my DB is not large enough to warrant that. To restore, I use the
most recent DB backup tape. I do not re-format any volumes. I use this
command to restore the DB:
/opt/IBMadsm-s/bin/dsmserv restore db todate=today totime=hh:mm
where hh:mm is the appropriate time that I determine by inspection of the
console log.
In response to Steffan <arhoads AT PACBELL DOT NET>, I am using raw logical
volumes for both my DB and my log files. (Well, almost. For the log,
I have two large volumes, mirrored for a total of six partitions, all
raw, and one tiny file, not mirrored, that I created one day when I
had to extend the log. It turns out that I can't drop that last volume
very easily, now that I don't need it any more. I should try again.)
