consider that:

Why should anybody backup data that is stored on a desktop machine? None of
our customers that I know allows its employees to save files on the local
disk (only on their own risk...). Just the servers are backed up.
Everything else causes too much trouble (BECAUSE of the ever changing
desktop) and an automatic backup of such a machine wouldn't work for a long
time. And if the end-user would have to take care of the backup of his
system how reliable would that be done???

So I don't see the need for a "better" win95 (as pure desktop OS) b/a
client. And for NT there is the new Tivoli Data Protection for Workgroups
product ( http://www.tivoli.com/storage/adsm/tsmdpw.htm ).

Any one seen the Connected On line backup product?  It blows the ADSM b=
/a
client out of the of water.
We are testing the product as well on the desktop.  It has all the bell=
s
and
whistles needed to backup the ever changing desktop environment.  Autom=
atic
notifications, backups on 95 without the client being logged in, block
level
backups, etc.......
Tivoli is "supposed" to have a client coming in Sept. to do the same.  =
But
as usual they haven't go their story straight.
Tivoli what is up?
I just want to know if it is worth the headaches of putting ADSM on the=

desktop... It's not looking favorable so far
