We have backup window that runs between 23:45 and approx. 05:00.

ADSM v2.1 (AIX4.2 client/server) only supports a RESTORE with a
-TODATE=mm/dd/yy parameter.

If I want to restore a particular night's backup to a system, how do I do this,
considering that the actual backup of a filesystem has straddled 24:00 hrs.

There are various solutions to this, but the more detailed question I am asking
is, how does ADSM timestamp its backed up files?
i) With the time at completion of the physical movement of the data of a file
to the ADSM storage pool?

ii) With the time of commencement of the backup of the particular file in
question?

iii) With the time of the commencement of the scheduled operation?

I could test for all of this but I'm trying to restore a client's faith in this
backup system, in a production environment!

Alex Masters.
