Craig,
Query libvol will show all tapes both scratch and private that are currently
checked in to the library. It is possible that you have empty tapes in the
library that were not checked in and therefore do not show up as scratch.
There are two good ways to get them to show up. The first is to have ADSM
search the library for all tapes not currently checked in and check them in.
This will checkin any tape that ADSM finds whether it has been labelled or
not. This can be sort of dangerous if you have put tapes in there without
labelling them.
Here's the command
ADSM>checkin libvol <library-name> search=yes checklabel=barcode
status=scratch
The second method is to have ADSM search the library for all tapes that it
doesn't already have checked in, and label these tapes (according to their
barcode), then check them in as scratch. This command helps you get around
the problem of checking in unlabelled tapes.
ADSM>label libvol <library-name> search=yes checklabel=barcode
checkin=scratch
