Yes to the first question and no to the second.

When configuring a system like this, you will want to have two distinctly
separate pools of tapes.  We recommend tapes with different barcode
prefixes to help your operations staff.  Then you must ensure when you
place tapes in the library you check them in correctly.  Since the two
servers don't know of each other's tapes, it is possible for you to check
in as scratch a private volume from the other server.  Needless to say,
this isn't good as that tape can be taken from the scratch pool and written
on, thus destroying the other node's data.

Tape manipulation is hard enough within ADSM.  This is even harder, so be
careful.
