Could someone please tell me what all is included in the Comm-Wait time reported
in the accounting records? I have begun generating some reports from the
accounting records in SMF for backups and it is showing about 80% or more of the
duration of the backup session is listed as Comm Wait.

This is an MVS ADSM server on OS/390 2.6 with OSA token-ring adapters running
TCPIP.
