First check your Unix user limits to assure that you are allowed a
reasonable amount of virtual storage. Also make sure that your AIX system
has a good amount of paging space (lsps -a). Unix systems will perform
drastic elimination of processes once paging space nears exhaustion,
first issuing SIGDANGER to processes (picking on the longest-running
first), then issuing SIGKILL to those which don't respond to the signal
and go away gracefully on their own.
