Re: Exchange Agent Question

Thanks for the suggestion Del. Unfortunately the archive function of ADSM
would require that the database be quiesced which would forego our 24x7
availability.
However if you mean that you could somehow integrate the ADSM archive
function into the Connect Agent whereby an Exchange Copy taken by the
Connect Agent would automatically expire based upon a management class
retention peiod - I think that would be superb! That's a great idea.
I did think about your suggestion about using a different nodename.. Yes it
probably would work quite well but at the same time I think I'd rather go
for something more like what I stated above.
Thanks for your reply.

Nathan,
No, there is not a version to do what you are asking.
But...how about running the monthly Exchange "Copy" backups
using a different ADSM NODENAME? That way, you could still use
the /ADSMAUTODELETE function with the /IFOLDER:365 option.
There are probably other ways to do this but that one
came to mind first.
Otherwise, please submit a formal requirement so we can get
it prioritized and into our requirements database.
(Maybe the real solution should be to take advantage
of the Archive function in ADSM.)
Thanks,
Del

Del,
Our legal dept requires that we archive our email on a monthly basis
for
the
period of one year.
The Exchange 'COPY' is essentially an ideal method of archiving
email since
it does not interfere with the regular backup cycle.
Is there functionality within the Connect Agent (FixtestB) to allow
us to
delete previous backups but keep copies (archives)?
If not.. how about introducing one.. I'm sure there are other
companies out
there with a legal requirement to archive email.
