Re: database reorg

Khalid,
There are known issues with expire inventory not working correctly in ADSM
Severs prior to 3.1.2.13.
The database bloat may be related to this problem.
As far as a reorg, I'm not aware of any utils provided to do an actual
reorg. However I've heard that the most efficent
way of doing the next best thing is to backup your database and then do a
restore db. This could remove
some of the white space from the database.

We have the expireinterval sat to 1 hour. Server version is 3.1.1.0
and we
are upgrading to 3.1.2.1. Are you suggesting that we should upgrade
to
3.1.2.13 ?

Hi Khalid,
Before you go trying to reorg the database, I'd try to work out why
the
database is growing. What version of the server are you running?
There are
known problems with inventory expiration with 3.1.2.1 (I assume that
you are
running inventory expiration regularly). If you are running 3.1.2.1,
I'd
recommend upgrading to at least 3.1.2.13.

ADSM data base is growing rapidly in our shop. I had to delete some
old
backups (file spaces). I noticed only a minimal reduction in the
database
utilization percentage. Does anybody know how to reorg the database
and
reclaim the free space. Thanks
Khalid
