     Stephen,

I agree with Bill with one but,

there was a time that I too found that to run ADSM on NT Workstation
would cut the costs. I tried to find out if there would be any serious
     limitations on the ADSM server.
At the time the list popped up with some answers all stating don't do
it. The list response from IBM was don't do it there's a "maximum 10
client connection penalty" hardecoded into NT Workstation.
This meant that if you had 10 concurrent clients connected to the ADSM
server the eleventh client connection would break.
You're probably thinking, just as I did, surely this would only apply
to users connecting to an NT WS for shares und such, but not bare
     bones TCP/IP socket connections !
I sought some advice from our NT specialists and sure enough they
dished up some Microsoft document which indeed stated that even on the
     TCP/IP connection level there was a 10 connections's limitation.
From then on I've played it safe and installed ADSM Server only on an
     NT Server system.

Due to lack of resources I've never been able to confirm this, so if
anyones passed the limit, I would very much like to know.

     regards Walter Ridderhof.

Stephan,

Yes, ADSM Server will run on NT Workstation.

You will get two opinions on the FAT vs. NTFS issue. FAT may be marginally
faster, NTFS certainly provides more protection. I always use NTFS for the
ADSM software, database, and log files, and I usually use NTFS for the
storage pool disks.
