Wanda, et. al.

I'm involved in this one as well so I'll add what I know of the
configuration and the symptoms.

NT Cluster, two systems connected via dual SCSI UW to the Clarion.

ADSM Client V3.1.0.6

Clarion RAID unit, 30 drives, four partitions:

1 with 5 drives, RAID5
1 with 5 drives, RAID5
1 with 4 drives, RAID5
1 with 15 drives, RAID5
1 spare drive.

I'm told that all RAID5 volumes are intact and not running degraded due to
a disk failure.

The large volume has a deep directory tree with 700-800K files. Many
directories with more than 1000 files. The ADSM client, wether doing an
incremental of the whole drive, or an individual directory runs abysmally
(sp) slow. A selective backup of a directory runs equally slow.
Operations on the other volumes in this baby run fine.

Sean included a portion of the trace file. Perhaps one of you performance
gurus could take a look at this and help us out. If you need more trace
info, send mail to Sean and he will generate it for you.

Thanks gang!
