One of my customers is considering a backup solution, the main competitors
being ADSM and NetBackup, i have to come up with the major pros and cons and
as usual time is very short...i have mainly worked with ADSM ..i talked to
the Veritas guys who gave the following main points

1. Central management console...i believe this also has the ability to
monitor/restart backups on a enterprise level...? they say its much more
powerful and robust than ADSM's enterprise web administration
2. Multiplexing to sequential devices - this utiltizes the high speed drives
fully
3. Because of master-slave approach, there is potential for better
availability, because policies can be replicated, as well as media manager
databases
4. Because of optional tar format, DR will be a breeze as long as uu have
the tapes, even if u lose your database or catalog

Any thoughts, experiences, comments....
