Subject: Accessing data on a tape with a damaged volume label

I am wondering if it is possible to accessed data on a tape where the volume
is unreadable.

Using AUDIT VOL xxx FIX=yes will get around unreadable sections on a tape,
but if the volume label is unreadable, you appear to be screwed.
