Hi Doug
We've got a variety of clients here, (AIX, NT and Solaris). The AIX boxes go
over an SP switch so they aren't really
comparable. So I guess the closest we have is the Sun boxes.
We're using v2/v3 Solaris clients talking to an AIX server-hosted diskpool over
Token Ring.
SPARC10 - Solaris 2.6 + ADSM v3 client = approx 3.0GB/hr without compression,
1.4-1.7GB/hr with compression.
SPARC1000 (6 cpus) - Solaris 2.4 + ADSM v2 client (yuk!) =1.0-1.5GB/hr with
compression, 1.1-1.6GB/hr without.
These are very old and low powered boxes, hence the low figures. With my local
NT workstation (PII-233, NTW-4.0SP4) I get
about 1.2GB/hr during the day. The network in this case is 10BaseT Ethernet
connected to a Token Ring backbone.
Hope this helps
