David,
=20
The only trick is, when creating the partition with the =
/etc/format
utility, do not include cylinder 0 (zero) in the partition intended =
for use
as a raw partition. Also on Solaris 2.5.1 partition must be LESS =
than 2 gig
in size.
=20
I apologize that information is not in the pubs. I was certain =
that
was added last revision, but I just check and it is not.

Jim,

We've never been able to get ADSM to recognize raw volumes in a =
non-AIX
environ. Any tricks I'm missing here? This would be good news for =
us - we
prefer raw volumes.

Malkit,

Try setting, in dsmserv.opt, DISKMAP NO. This setting can =
improve
performance with larger disk pools and with some disk sub-systems. =
To get
the best disk storage pool performance on Sun, we recommend using =
the
raw-partitions (see the reference manual or the help on "define vol" =
and
the notes on the disk device class).

Hello
=20
We have Solaris ADSM server v3.1.2 , with the following options in
dsmserv.opt :
=20
BUFPoolsize 20480
EXPInterval 24
MOVEBatchsize 1000
MOVESizethresh 500
TCPNodelay yes
TCPWindowsize 0
TXNGroupmax 256
USELARGEbuffer yes
USELARGETAPEBLOCK yes
=20
The backup is done to disk stg pool. We get bad performance on =
backing
up and restore as well. Attach are two of the worst performance =
during
the night backup.
I will appreciate your experience on tunning the ADSM server and
clients. We get better performance when doing selective/incremental
backup directly from the client, but still it doesn't get to =
1mb/sec.
Awful !
