The max values are mostly not working. If you tune for example the
Bufferpoolsize to high and you are to low in real memory your machine start
paging. It is a balance between all parameters.

Did you look to your cache hit rate ? q db f=d

Also can you send more specs about your network. And all the parameters you
have set in the option file.
