I am having problems backing up our readnews server with a very large
filesystem (19 GB and 8420224 files). I've tried several times and the
backup repeatedly terminates on the server side with the message:

 ANR0482W Session 1439 for node GERALDO.CC (SunOS)
terminated - idle for more than 15 minutes.

Each time the last thing recorded in the client dsmc increment log showed
around 800,000+ files processed. The dsmc process on the client keeps
running with a cpu utilization of around 30%.

It's important to note that most of the files in the file system being
backed up are excluded via an exclude statement in the dsm.sys. When the
session is terminated at around 800,000+ files, none of the included files
have been processed yet.

The client is running SunOS 5.5 and ADSM Version 2, Release 1, Level 0.7
(PTF IP21104). I've tried various settings (default to the max) for
TCPBuffsize, TCPWindowsize, and TXNBytelimit, but the backup always fails
around 800,000+ files. I can't run the version 3 client because the OS
level doesn't support it.

Any ideas on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert
