More than 8 characters is not the problem, we use 10. The problem is
before putting in the generate command ADSM creates an encrypted
password file on the client in the ADSM directory, you need to delete this
file. There may be more than one. Delete them all and restart the dsmc
session. It will initially ask for a user name and password. Give it the
user name and password and it should do it automatically the next time
you start the client session.

we've noticed a problem using password with more than 8 characters!
The
Netware client would ask for password at every new session, despite
the
coding of "generate" in the dsm.opt.
