Hi ADSMers,
Hi ADSMers,

when I use the NT client 3.1.0.5 to archive a directory including its
contents, I say e.g.
     archive -subdir=yes "C:\Program Files\"
Here I have to quote the path name, because it contains a blank.

This works fine on the interactive command line, but it does not in batch
mode. Try
     dsmc archive -subdir=yes "C:\Program Files\"
and you will only archive the directory, not its contents. This is not what
one would have expected, is it? I saw the same problem with selective
backup, by the way.

Of course, to get the contents archived/backed up, I could as well say
something like
     dsmc archive -subdir=yes "C:\Program Files\*"
which works fine in either mode.

Now, don't tell me about some DOS shell problems. The same behaviour is
observed in a UNIX-like bash, which I run under NT. (Remember to replace
double quotes by single quotes in this case.) So it seems to be the ADSM
Client that gets things messed up. In some more complex examples (like
lists of quoted pathnames) I saw the ADSM Client arbitrarily cut the
pathnames in pieces or even give up with
     ANS1125E Unmatched Quotes: ' '
There must be something wrong with quote evaluation.

Mit freundlichem Gruss/Best Regards
