if the new library is on the same server, just use move data
Once data makes it into the adsm server you can move it around any
where you like and adsm will keep track of it. That is if you have
different storage pools that are the default destinations for
different management classes you may move data from one storage pool
to the other without having any impacting the data in any way. (unless
you do something like automatically move data in one storage pool out
of a library automatically)
So if on the same adsm just adjust your management classes to use the
new 3494 and do move data's from the old 3494 to the new 3494... or
just wait for the data to expire in the old one. Even if you alter
the destination of the management classes the server still knows where
all the existing data is and if a restore is requested that would come
off the old 3490e's it will go there to get it... if it is in the new
3494 on 3590's it will go there to get it.
Hope this helps...
later,
Dwight

Subject: New 3494 library

Hello ADSM'ers,
Current configuration : ADSM/VM server V2, 3494 library with 400 3490E
cartridges dedicated to ADSM, all nodes in collocation.
We've bought a new 3494 library with 3590 carts.
We would like to migrate all the "old" 3490 tapes to the new 3590, w/o
having to backup again all the nodes.
Some clients will be collocated, some not (due to the large capacity of the
3590)
What is the best method to achieve this goal ?

Any experience is welcome.
Thanks a lot,
