Grant,

that's a "me too" situation. Our 3570 worked with the inital set of tapes
for almost 8 months without any problems. After that we got one problem
after the other. The most annoying thing for us is that errors like
"tension lost" during a reclamation bring down the ADSM server completely.
And as you said - it just happens from one day to the other - no indication
of anything getting "out of range" until the error itself occurs.

Right now we do "move data" and "audit vol" on a regular basis in order to
test the tapes and to keep track of their reliability. As I told Matthew -
right now we have approximately 20% of bad tapes which will be replaces by
IBM.

Mit freundlichem Gruss/Best Regards

Mathew

I have no idea if it has anything to do with the age of the tapes, but I am
seeing more & more of our tapes showing Lost VCR data.
I would be keen to know how this happens from one day when all seems ok to
the next day when we have problems.

A move data usually fixes things - but upto 4 or so hours are needed for a
'bad' tape sometimes.
